We are optimistic that the worst of COVID is past and the coming summer will be fantastic. Let’s hope the weather is as good as last year!
We have used the lockdown to upgrade a lot of this charming building, including a big improvement to the bar rooms, re-instating the fireplace (with logburner) in the large lounge, adding some fine antique furniture..

Posted: October 27th, 2021
Put your wellies on, visit a waterfall.... or sit inside our nice cosy inn. The fires are roaring, the beer is the best around, and we are pleased to be offering food at lunch and in the evening everyday except next Monday 1st November. We usually have space for everyone at lunchtime, but do fill up in the evening, so the earlier you come (we open at 5.30) the better the chance of getting in, but no guarantees.

Thursday 28th. A bit of water won't stop us opening! Swim here, paddle here, get very soggy getting here then dry out in front of our fires and enjoy hearty warm food and great local ales. We have lots of chefs today, so if you can get here we can feed you! The road is passable with care (as of 10am) but why not walk to us from Grasmere or Ambleside (via the Rydal hall track, not the under Loughrigg road (you will be swimming!)

We are fully open for food and drinks. We have plenty of staff, so come along and enjoy the open fires, tasty food and great beer. The traffic is moving freely on the road and there don't seem to be any problems on the A591 Ambleside - Grasmere - Keswick.

It's been a very wet week, so plan to visit some impressive waterfalls, then venture into the cosy Badger Bar. The fires are lit, the food is good hearty fare and the beer is even better.
