A traditional inn serving good food

Snacks and pub classic meals, using locally sourced foods and seasonal ingredients. Nearly all our food is home-made - our microwave has a quiet life. We care about the quality, and our chefs and staff are proud to make and serve real food. Spend the afternoon in our large beer garden or come inside the 400 year old inn.

Menus

Lunch Soup, sandwiches, wraps, chips (of course). If you have a big appetite we also serve Cumberland sausage & mash, fish & chips, homemade pies and burgers.

Evening A good range of classic pub food, including our huge fish and chips, flavoursome curries, burgers, Cumberland sausage etc all to ensure you go home satisfied. Nothing pretentious, just tasty pub classics, made with care. GF and veggie and vegan options are of course on the menu as well, because we are not stuck in the 1970’s either. And don’t forget our fabulous home-made proper pies.

Sunday Roast noon - 2.30pm, or until sold out (which it often does).

“The best roast I have ever had in a pub” trip advisor review, March 2018.

We aim to serve the finest pub roast in the area, and people certainly appreciate it. We use quality Cumbrian meats and good home-cooked trimmings.

We can take reservations for Sunday lunch but only for 12noon or 12.30pm.

Like most hospitality businesses, we have had a hard couple of years. Please smile at staff wherever you may be and thank them for their efforts, it has been a challenging time.
